Oliver Bradford and his fiancee intend to spend their honeymoon in a picturesque New England cottage with a romantic history. The war intervenes and he returns badly disfigured and embittered. He rents the cottage to get away from the people he knew. There he meets Laura, and the cottage begins to weave a spell of enchantment round them.
