2/2. Michael Ball profiles singer, songwriter, consummate showman and easy-listening kingpin Barry Manilow , whose unrivalled repertoire of previously "uncool" 70s MOR classics include Mandy, Could It Be Magic, Weekend in New England, Can't Smile without You and Copacabana (At the Copa). This final part recalls Manilow's rise to superstardom (spiked by I Write the Songs), his sweeping contributions to the development of the power ballad, and the relentless attacks from the press. Plus a look at his recent success in covering pop standards. With fairly candid input from Manilow, and interviews with industry giant Clive Davis , songwriter
Randy Edelman and Richard Carpenter.
