Elbow frontman Guy Garvey anticipates next June's 25th anniversary of Leonard Cohen 's stirring ballad Hallelujah, which has emerged as one of the most regarded songs written by a Canadian and whose biblical, sexual and emotional aspects have been interpreted by dozens of artists and used in a variety of contexts, from film (Basquiat and Shrek) to television (Holby City and Ugly Betty). Featuring input from music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas , the Bishop of Croydon, artists who have covered the song (Kathryn Williams , Imogen Heap , Christine Collister and Allison Crowe ) and engineer Andy Wallace , who worked on the famous version that appeared on the late Jeff Buckley 's 1994 album Grace.
