3/4. Clarke Peters pays tribute to charismatic showman, jazz band leader, singer, stage and radio star Cab Calloway (1907-1994), whose hi-de-ho scat singing has influenced jazz artists like Fats Waller as well as today's rap acts. His many hits between 1930 and 1945 include
Minnie the Moocher and Hep-Hep (the Jumpin' Jive). This edition recalls the tremendous popularity of the Cab Calloway Orchestra, which boasted musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie and Ben Webster.
