A special tribute to country superstar Dolly Parton, who is 60 on Thursday. Since 1967, the good-natured, Tennessee-born singer and actress has charted with over 100 hit singles, starting with Dumb Blonde and including 24 US country number ones.
Among them are pop favourites Jolene, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream (a duet with Kenny Rogers) and I Will Always Love You, a song that Parton recorded with different chart-topping versions in 1974 and 1982 and which Whitney Houston reworked as an over-the-top smash in 1992. Nick Barraclough talks to Parton, with warm tributes from Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, Trisha Yearwood, Patti Loveless, Brad Paisley, Mindy Smith and Porter Wagoner.
