A nostalgic look at the BBC's weekly chart show Top of the Pops, which first aired on 1 January 1964 with a roster that included the Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield, the Hollies, the Dave Clark Five and, on film, the Beatles. Now after 31 years on BBC1, TOTP has shifted to BBC2. Recalling on-air highlights are Jimmy Savile, Pete Murray and David Jacobs (three of the programme's first presenters), Tony Blackburn, Allan Clarke, Noddy Holder, Tom Jones, Ronan Keating, Lulu and Steve Wright. Plus an archive interview with the show's original producer, Johnnie Stewart.
