And artist Marc Quinn and writer Eva Hoffman talk about the challenges posed to notions of individuality by contemporary science. Hoffman's latest novel, The Secret, explores the issue of cloning and the relationship between a mother and her daughter, while in Quinn's latest work - a portrait of Human Genome Project leader Sir John Sulston - the subject's DNA is used to make a composition that is at once both an abstract and a literal representation of the sitter.
