The 1950s. Walton's lyrical and delicate opera, Troilus and Cressida, took eight years to complete and the first performance in 1956 was plagued with difficulties. During that time he also composed the Coronation Te Deum - described as "lots of counter-tenors and little boys holy-holying, not to mention all the Queen's Trumpeters and side-drum." The fourth of five talks by Israel Zamir about his relationship with his father, Isaac Bashevis Singer , from whom he was separated as a young boy.
In July 1991, Israel attends the great writer's funeral which is so small that it lacks even the prayer quorum of ten men.
"Gigi, what do you think? Maybe you should say 'Kaddish' after all?
It would be my small revenge to see my socialist son wearing a skullcap."
