The Meeting

on BBC Radio 3

The fourth of five talks by Israel Zamir about his relationship with his father, Isaac Bashevis Singer , from whom he was separated as a young boy.
In July 1991, Israel attends the great writer's funeral which is so small that it lacks even the prayer quorum of ten men.
"Gigi, what do you think? Maybe you should say 'Kaddish' after all?
It would be my small revenge to see my socialist son wearing a skullcap."
Final programme tomorrow 9.05pm
