by Barbro Holmberg and Eira Johansson for Finnish Radio - Prix Italia 1988 for Best Documentary.
Commedia dell'Arte was born in the Piazza San Marco in the 16th century.
In the heady atmosphere of the Venice Carnival, the playwright Dario Fo, a master mask-maker, and others consider the paradox of the Commedia dell'Arte mask. It neither laughs nor weeps, yet it can become more eloquent and suggestive than any real face.
With Sara Kestelman and Nickolas Grace.
