The Old Spuriosity Shop
... or Authorship Vindicat'd
Many works are not what they seem: Wagner's Adagio for clarinet and strings, Albinoni's Adagio for organ and strings, Haydn's Opus 3 Quartets, Bist du bei mir ' (Bach) and Purcell's music to The Tempest can all be reattributed to other composers. In today's programme of record requests from the under-20s, Christopher Hogwood investigates the contributions of Giazzoto. Fritz Kreisler, Hofstetter, Stolzel and others to the concert repertoire. gramophone records
