The epic poem Gerusalemm* Liberata by Tasso supplied the plot and libretto for operas by Lully and Rossini, madrigals by Monteverdi, a symphonic poem by Liszt and a supernatural ballet The Enchanted Forest by Geminiani. Eirlys Roberts , Deputy Director of the Consumers' Association (who publish Which), says that the first music she liked was folk song. Then she discovered baroque, before Jumping forward to the music of the last 100 years, via Wagner. Herchoiceofrecordsincludes JANET BAKER singing an excerpt from Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, and ALFRED DELLER in Buxtehude's Jubilate Domino; also artists discovered on her travels - MIRIAM MAKEBA and the Dutch flautist, THlGS VAN LEER.
