Ronald Smith presents an appreciation of these three giants amongst 20th-century pianists. He includes several records now little known and valuable collectors' items, together wrth Busoni playing Beethoven and Liszt's 13th Rhapsody; Rachmaninov playing Liszt's Gnomenreigen and part of Beethoven's 32 Variations in c minor; and Hofmann the Chopin-Liszt Maiden's Wish, extracts from the Chopin concertos and B minor Sonata.
