An enquiry by CHRISTIE DAVIES In East Africa there are large communities of immigrants from what is now India and Pakistan. Many of them hold British passports. These Asians are being driven out of East Africa by the governments of Kenya and Uganda, who prevent them, by law, from working in their accustomed trades and professions.
Many of those with British passports would like to come to England; but the British government permits only a trickle of immigrants.
Christie Davies , who has just returned from East Africa, has been studying the problems faced by the Asian community and suggests ways in which they might be helped. He has been interviewing Asians all over East Africa and has recorded the views of East African Asians now living in Britain.
