This compassionate satire on modern Africa concerns the unhappy plight of Lawino, a woman of the Acholi tribe in Uganda. Her husband Ocol considers himself Progressive and civilised, and despises her for her ignorance; he is In love with a beautiful modern girl named Clementine, who can dance the ballroom dances as white people do. Ocol has borrowed the clothes and the ideas of white People; he behaves like a white man's dog.
