Seal Sands
In the midst of industrial Teesside on the east coast of England, these 400 acres of sands are a vital wintering place for thousands of waders and ducks. Teesside has been an industrial centre since medieval times, when sea coal was used to obtain salt from the estuary mud, but while there is a temporary halt to the march of industry, the future of this wildlife refuge is in doubt.
