Barry Foster and Mary Wimbush in Children of the Red NUM by JOHN CARDY
Early in 1945 the publishers of Mirage, a weekly comic for children, are considering the future of the serial. While V2 rockets fall and journalists and editors plan the fate of the ageless children in the story, they wonder what plan there may be behind their own unsatisfactory lives - or is life just a mirage too?

3: Religion and Apartheid
Some people think that the Dutch Reformed Church is the villain of the piece in South Africa. Yet in theory a Calvinist Church should be separate from the State. Has the true tradition of Calvinism got lost in South Africa?
Trevor Beeson , Canon of Westminster Abbey, went to South Africa to invite the Church to speak for itself He heard the views, not only of White representatives, including the Moderator, but also Black? Coloured, and Indian militants deeply involved in the new Black Consciousness movement - for these also belong to the same Dutch Reformed Church. and their voices provide the only criticism which their White Christian colleagues cannot ignore.

Helen and Edward Thomas : A Love Story
Compiled and introduced by Michael Flinch with Rosalind Shanks as Helen The programme is based upon Helen Thomas 's autobiography, written after the death of her husband. First World War poet, Edward Thomas.
She describes their honeymoon: ' Everything was enchanting; I had never been in such a cottage before. We washed in rain water, and even the rough towels smelled sweet. Outside the owls hooted and bats twittered and starlings stirred in the thatch. No other sound was to be heard, no trains, no people, no traffic, nothing but the sounds that do not spoil silence, but rather deepen it, and a little breeze wandering through the wood. and a leaf flapping against our window.'
