The series offering the latest news on science, medicine and technology. Every year in Britain a number of children are born with a disfiguring condition which causes patches of hair to grow on their faces. The only solutions until now have been creams and waxes, which only work in the short term, or electrolysis, which can mean months of treatment with a needle.
Tomorrow's World reports on the discovery of a quick and painless alternative to these treatments. The new technique has been proved effective and uses lasers to remove the hair in just three ten-minute sessions.
Plus, news of the portable computer that blows the whistle when it is stolen.
If the computer's legitimate owner does not input their password at regular intervals, the computer hijacks the built-in modem to telephone the authorities and alert them to the theft.
Presented by Howard Stableford and Shahnaz Pakravan, with Vivienne Parry, Philippa Forrester, Rebecca Stephens and Jez Nelson.
Producer Saul Nasse; Editor Edward Briffa
