When the Roman legions invaded England they met a brave but easily demoralised enemy. For the Celtic tribes were no match for such a well-organised war machine, and their initial fierceness in battle soon gave way to complete disarray.

In two centuries man has wiped out most of the wildlife of the Seychelles Islands. Tony Beamish went there to see what was left. Among other things he watched an 'extinct' bird building its nest, and the Seychelles magpie robin, one of the rarest birds in the world.
