Tonight's programme in the new season of feature films with action, spectacle, and excitement stars James Stewart, Arthur Kennedy, Rock Hudson, Julia Adams
This is one of the most ambitious productions made by Hollywood in the revival of the Western that took place in the early fifties with High Noon and Shane. James Stewart plays a seasoned guide hired to take an 1847 wagon train through Oregon to the North-West frontier. Treachery, starvation, goldrush fever and Indian attack threaten the survival of the party, and the climax comes in a spectacular race across the snowy slopes of Mount Hood.
