The story of the evolution of man has lost many of the emotional overtones that it once carried. In principle the descent of man from the early primates is now accepted and palaeontologists are now concerned with establishing the details of this lineage. In this programme Dr. Napier talks about some of the key steps in this line and the environment which produced them.
