Written and produced by Barbara Parker.
Engraver, painter, philanthropist, self-made man, Hogarth was to produce the first work of Art Theory since the Renaissance. During his lifetime he was often scorned as presumptuous and non-conformist, always in revolt against the respectable academics. This film is an attempt to show the quality and degree of his originality.
