by Richard Murphy
In his narrative poem Richard Murphy considers the situation in Southern Rhodesia from the position of someone personally involved through his own family. The title of the poem is taken from the Africans' phrase for the early European settlers, whom they saw as Gods who had to eat and die like ordinary men.
