Translated and introduced by KEVIN CROSSLEY-HOLLAND Read by HARVEY HALL and ALAN WHEATLEY
The Dream of the Rood is the oldest surviving poem in the English language in the form of a dream. In his dream, the poet sees the tree which was felled in the forest and hewn into the Cross. The tree describes Christ's and its own heroism and agony, its subsequent humiliation, and eventual exultation
