Criticism of natural selection is not new. In the early days the main objections to it were clearly stated, but subsequently they became muffled by a widespread confusion of thought between the idea of evolution in general and of natural selection in particular.
Professor Good believes that there are valid and pressing reasons why the hypothesis should receive a searching re-examination now.
