Assistant Lecturer in the Philosophy of Religion at Manchester University Many attempts have been made to communicate the meaning of Christianity by ' translating' it in terms of, for instance, various philosophical systems or models. Mr. Heywood Thomas believes that these share a common basic error, consisting in the quest for ' some sort of metaphysical or sociological meaning.' That is not the way in which Christianity is meaningful.
