Daniel Jones, whose Fifth Symphony is to receive its premiere during the winter season of BBC Symphony Concerts, is one of the leading Welsh composers of today. His Eight Bagatelles were composed during 1948-53.

Robert Crawford, a thirty-three-year-old Scot, composed his Second String Quartet last year in response to a commission from the McEwen. Trust of Glasgow University; the Lyra Quartet gave the first performance at a Trust Concert. It is in three movements.
The Welsh composer David Wynne, who is music master at Lewis School, Pengam, was born in 1900. His Five Short Pieces were written last year.

This is the first of two programmes considering the future of art education in this country in the light of the changes recently proposed by the Ministry of Education.
In this talk the speaker suggests that these proposals do not go far enough; he provides a preface to the second programme on the subject, a discussion among a group of those at present responsible for the training of artists and designers.

In the second of two programmes devoted to his poetry Ezra Pound reads Cantos I, 45, 51, and 88. Also included is a piece of reminiscent art criticism inspired by the paintings of his artist friend La Martinelli.
