To the ecologist studying the balance of numbers among natural communities of animals the advent of myxomatosis has provided a unique experiment. The speaker had just begun a study of the small mammals in an oak-wood when myxomatosis struck. In his talk he describes the effect of its impact and the adjustments likely to take place in 1956.
