Talk by Henri-Charles Puech
Read by Darsie Gillie
In 1946 Egyptian peasants discovered a large collection of papyrus manuscripts hidden in a jar at the foot of a hill in the Nag Hammadi district of Upper Egypt. These proved to be Gnostic writings of the third and fourth centuries A.D., though many of the works may be much older in origin. Professor Puech considers the significance of Gnosticism in the history of Christianity, and the importance of this discovery.
