Lady Cynthia Asquith first met D. H. Lawrence in August 1913 at Kingsgate. near Broadstairs. She saw him frequently throughout the war years either in Sussex or in London, and whenever he returned to England after the war; and received hundreds of letters from him, of which about sixty were published in the collected ' Letters,' edited by Aldous Huxley.
