11-Modern Anthems from All Saints, Clifton, Bristol
A series of programmes showing the development of church music from plainsong and early faux bourdon through the great polyphonic composers, Byrd, Weelkes, and Morley, to the modem cathedral evensong with the blending of the fine traditions that are our glorious heritage from the past
A short story by Evelyn Waugh read by the author.
Evelyn Waugh, who has now been living in the West Country for some time, is one of the few writers today who can write good satirical fiction in both short-story and novel form. 'Decline and Fall', 'Vile Bodies', 'Black Mischief', and 'Handful of Dust' are classics of their kind. In 1936 his 'Edmund Campion', a biography, was awarded the Hawthornden Prize.
Recently he took part in the series of discussions entitled 'Readers and Reading'.
