4—'The Bridport Trade'
H. J. Eves
F. E. Baker
Ted Parker
The rope, twine, line, and net industry has flourished at Bridport in Dorset since mediaeval times, expanded under the mercantile system with a tremendous trade to Newfoundland, and continues today. At first it was carried on in the workers' own homes, but today, as the speakers will tell, it is highly mechanised.
Succeeding talks in this series about country industries in the West will describe bacon curing, Trowbridge cloth, tulle at Tiverton, and gloves at Yeovil.
