St. Austell is recognised as the capital of the important china clay industry m Cornwall, and several members of the choir are associated with that industry. Last year the choir won the Championship open to Devon and Cornwall

Foster Manley has sung the bass solos in most of the works of Haydn, Gounod Stainer, Bach, and Mendelssohn, and last year he sang the bass solos of The Messiah for the sixteenth time He is one of the members of the Truro Operatic Society and also of Dr Frere's Bach Society (the Lord Bishop of Truro)
