Mr. Sewell, who has broadcast both in the Midland and National programmes on Pigeon Flying, is a Vice-President of the National Homing Union, and was the principal advocate of the scheme for supplying weather forecasts on the day of the race; this system now successfully operates to guard against the possibility of setting the birds a task which weather conditions make too difficult. Mr. Sewell has had many successes, and in 1931, in the Bordeaux race of 588 miles, he got three birds home out of four released.
