Theresa la Cava (mezzo-soprano)
The Sylvan Trio: John Francis (flute)
Evelyn Rothwell (oboe)
Millicent Silver (pianoforte)
Theresa la Cava has been broadcasting since the Savoy Hill days, and comes to the microphone with a background of experience surely as varied as any singer now living. She studied for five years with Anna Williams at the Royal College of Music and later privately under
Signor Bacci. Her musical experience has ranged from concerts at camps and recitals during the war, to lieder recitals, and to Spanish, Italian, and Neapolitan music.
She has collected a unique library from all parts of the Continent, and has made a speciality of collecting rare songs. She claims to have got the last bundle of songs out of Madrid before the outbreak of the Spanish civil war. She has often spent as much as two years hunting for specific songs, one of which she once heard in Valparaiso and later found in Milan.
