Net so many years ago Slough was a comparatively small town, chiefly known by those who lived or were in barracks at Windsor, or at school at Eton College. But it has changed and grown with the years, and industry has made it the largest town in Buckinghamshire.
To celebrate its promotion to a Borough (it was granted a Charter of Incorporation quite recently), the Town Council has arranged four days' festivities, including a first-rate Variety entertainment in the Town Hall.

This is an account by an unemployed Londoner of a trek to the West Country with a companion. They used a home-made trek-cart and limited their joint expenses to a shilling a day. They eventually reached Cornwall, and this talk will describe their adventures.
