Most people are conscious of the discoveries in the Western hemisphere, so many of which originated from Devon and Cornwall. Fewer people, however, are aware that the opening up of the Near and Far East was also intimately connected with the English West Country. It is about these less-recognised achievements that Douglas Duff is going to speak today. In this first talk he will deal with the period of the Crusades.
