(Empire Programme)
This series has been heard by Empire listeners since January and by listeners over here since the first week in April. Its humour and thrills, its very variety, have made it a popular success...
Geoffrey Wincott appears today in yet another case engaging the attention of Inspector Sharp. This is the second 'Inspector Sharp' serial, and as it is written by the Melluish Brothers it goes without saying that the Inspector is a burlesque on all inspectors.
The devisers of 'School for Song’ are well known to listeners. Adrian Thomas has written several shows and used to play the clerk in Robb Wilton's 'Court of Not-so-Common, Please!' Jack Clarke is an Empire accompanist and is associated with Empire's lighter musical productions.
‘ Front-Page Story ' centres round the Daily Clarion and features each week the adventures of its press reporter, a girl, Georgie Dean , always played by Janet Lind and its press photographer, Mickey Duggan , always played by Richard Littledale.
The Variety act—a new one each week-and the various musical items lend sparkle to the show .... Look out for its successor, ' Steamboat ', to he produced and presented by William MacLurg on July 21.
