The National Hunt Steeplechase was first broadcast from Cheltenham last year. The event was first run at Market Harborough in the early 'sixties, but in the present century it has only been held at Warwick and Cheltenham, and has been held annually at Cheltenham Racecourse since 1911, except for a gap during the War. The course is one of four miles, starting from a spot near the Evesham Road, where there is ample room for a big field. Altogether, there are twenty-four fences or ditches to be negotiated. The race may be said to be the hunters' Grand National, and last year was won by Crown Prince from the favourite, Broadwas.
