4: Baroque Continuo Orchestration
The American scholar Manfred Bukofzer divided orchestration during the period 1600 to 1750 into three kinds - Continuo, Cumulative and Contrapuntal. Roger Fiske devotes one programme to each; in this talk he deals also with the use of flutes, recorders, oboes and trumpets in Baroque music.
