on The Examining Justices
In the Magistrates' Courts of England and Wales, the examining justices' most publicised function is to establish whether an accused person should stand trial. Criticism of publicity at these preliminary hearings does not, in Lord Devlin's view, go far enough. There is a strong case for a reform of the system itself.

Part 1
First of two talks by MICHAEL LEVEY , Deputy Keeper, The National Gallery
Music plays a definite part in the 'ubject-matter of Venetian painting. Michael Levey considers the treatment of music as a theme by some of the leading Venetian Renaissance painters, among them Bellini and Veronese.
A talk occasioned by the present series of programmes ' Music in Venice'
Next talk in the series, by Peter Burke , May 28; second talk by Michael Levey , June 4
Part 2
Second of two programmes by J. M. Cohen
The Pure Experience
Mr. Cohen examines the claim of the Chilean poet Nicanor Parra that every important poetic movement has been followed by an anti-poetic reaction. In disputing this claim he advances his own definition of anti-poetry and illustrates his arguments by poems chosen from a wide field. This programme considers the positive qualities he finds in anti-poetry.
