by COLIN HENFREY Guyana ceased to be British Guiana on May 26 and entered an independence which, up till the last moment, has caused controversy in Britain. Mr. Henfrey argues that the events and attitudes that have fuelled the controversy and delayed the independence have their roots in misjudgments and errors in British colonial policy.
