The potion is really only wine, and not surprisingly has no effect except to make Nemorino drunk. However. his rich uncle, opportunely dying, leaves him a fortune, and Adina, jealous of his sudden popularity with the village girl changes her mind about marrying Belcore and returns to him. 1865-1936
A reassessment by Peter Porter
When Kipling died he had already outlived the period of his greatest fame. Since his death, attempts to reassess his work have been made hy T. S. Eliot and Noël Annan, among others, but in this centenary year its full range and versatility have yet to be appreciated. The Australian poet Peter Porter believes that Kipling compels attention as a sort of Auden of the Right, whose insight into violence, and control of the dramatic monologue, give his best verse and prose lasting appeal.

An account of the rehabilitation of Jeanne d'Arc
Written by René Hague
On July 7, 1456, the commission appointed by Pope Calixtus III to examine the trial of Jeanne d'Arc in 1431 pronounced the sentence of rehabilitation which annulled the earlier proceedings. The enquiry, which was based on the written records of 1431 and on the evidence of witnesses who had known Jeanne (including some who had taken part in her trial), was chiefly conducted by the Inquisitor of France, Jean Bréhal.
