† LAURENCE KITCHIN on Yeatf
Mr. Kitchin argues that the enduring relevance of Yeats's poetry depends on his reconciliation of the grossness of experience with the glamour of art. He sees Yeats as both entertainer and realist, aware of life as a ' blind man's ditch ' and at the same time preoccupied with its splendour and mystery as symbolised by the tower, in particular, the tower he lived in himself in Ballylee.

† RICHARD STONE
P. D. Leake Professor of Finance and Accounting, Cambridge talks to STEPHEN ARIS of the Sunday Times about the latest book in his series: A Programme for Growth. This reports the first results from the mathematical model of the British economy which he and his colleagues at Cambridge have been constructing since 1960. The model makes it possible to measure the implications of sustained economic growth up to 1970 for particular industries in terms of output, manpower, and capital formation.
