The talks are each introduced by the Director of the Institute, DR. P. B. MEDAWAR , C.B.E., F.R.S. 1: The Biology of the 1 Typing Problem ' by LESLIE BRENT , Ph.D.

Grafts from some donors will be rejected rapidly, but grafts from others may be relatively acceptable so that the immunilogical action they provoke can be controlled. How can the surgeon tell in advance which kind of donor is which? This is the 'typing problem.' It has been solved for guinea-pigs: the next step is to apply it to human beings.
