When the Paris physician, Poiseuille, wanted to find out how blood flows through the arteries and so on he first studied the Sow of water through glass tubes. But blood is not as simple as water, nor are blood vessels like glass tubes. Dr. Scott Blair describes some of the complications that arise in real life and their relevance to health and disease.
