Princess Hatshepsut of Egypt

Today listeners are to hear about an adventure which is supposed to have happened to Princess Hatshepsut, who, many people believe, was the Pharaoh's daughter of the Bible story. Later she became a great queen, and the second part of the broadcast will describe a famous expedition which she sent out to the land of Punt.

Arrangements have been made with the authorities of the Natural History Museum for special tours in connection with the broadcast biology course. The broadcasts on Wednesday afternoons at 2.30 p.m. will be received in the Museum Board Room and immediately afterwards appropriate specimens will be visited and examined with the Museum Guide Lecturer.
Some schools may be unable to visit the Museum each week and they are invited to apply to the Director, when special tours will be arranged at any convenient time, covering several broadcasts, or, if necessary, the whole term's course. A Concert in the Victoria Hall
This will be the first of a series of four concerts which have been arranged to take place in the provinces during the coming season. There is abundant evidence to show that these visits are much appreciated in provincial centres. This is especially the case in towns where interest in music, stimulated by broadcasting, is very much alive, and where the musical public has few opportunities of actually hearing a full-size symphony orchestra.
Special interest attaches to the present visit to Hanley, inasmuch as this will be the first public appearance of the BBC Symphony Orchestra since its Continental Tour last April, and it will also be the first appearance of Paul Beard in his capacity of leader of the orchestra. It will also be the first visit of the BBC Orchestra to this important industrial centre.
The other towns to be visited by the BBC Orchestra in the course of the season are Leeds, Southampton, and Edinburgh.
