A Running Commentary by R. C. LYLE Relayed from The Town Moor Racecourse,
Doncaster
For the seventh year in succession a running commentary on the race for the St. Leger Stakes is relayed from Town Moor, Doncaster. Mr. R. C. Lyle , who has read this race for listeners every year since 1928, works today under better conditions than ever before. The course has been equipped since last year with a public-address system, with loud-speakers at various points. This equipment is used by the Course
Executive to give race-goers a start-to-finish description of every race. Mr. Lyle will have the use of the observation box on the roof of the Grand Stand, normally used by the official commentator for the course, which should give him a much better view of the race than he has had in previous years. The commentary on the actual race, from the ' off' until the horses pass the winning-post, will be relayed to spectators over the public-address system, in addition to being broadcast. Thanks are due to the Chairman of the Race Committee of the Doncaster Borough Council for these improved facilities.
