Mr. Geoffrey Whitworth : ' Introduction *
In this series listeners will hear Macbeth discussed as a work of literary art by a critic of its poetry and construction: as a piece for the theatre by a professional producer: as a problem of interpretation and impersonation by an actor: as the subject for a mise-en-scène by an artist-designer: and as an exercise for a village dramatic society by its producer. Additional interest is given to the series by the presentation on March 12 of a broadcast version of the play. Tonight the Secretary of the British Drama League explains how the play as performed is the result of creative team-work of many artists and craftsmen.
