Tom Draycott and Sheila Elliot have met and had dinner together. He realises that she is bored and unhappy and very bitter towards Bill Elliot. David Owen has had dinner with two advertising men and has been ' casually' introduced to a Mr. Graham Austin.
David suspects that there is more to this encounter than meets the eye. Bob needs money for a new car in order to accept the Draycott contract, and Dr. Dale has increased his overdraft so that he can help Bob financially.
